A New Driver In The Family "YIKES"

Its official!!! McKendrie got her learners permit today. The drivers licence people are here only on Wednesday's, but not the third Wednesday. We found that out when we went to take the test last week and no one was there, ( The joys of living in a small town) So of course as soon as she got home from school today she hit me up. I feel it only fair to warn you (so you can stay off the side walks) she failed the first time, but they were gracious enough to let her take it again and the rest is history. Oh boy! I'm not real sure I'm ready for this!!

Our Small Town Claim to Fame

Every year at this time our small town is a favorite rest stop for thousands of Snow Geese making their annual 5000 mile migration from Southern California to Northern Canada. In the early morning they will feed in the surrounding farmers fields. later in the morning take refuge on our local reservoir, then return to the fields in the late afternoon to evening.

People come from all over the state to participate in our small town Snow Goose Festival that comes complete with Wildlife officers setting up a telescope viewing area at the reservoir to do some bird watching, a Quilt/ craft show and 5k & 10k run /walk along with other activities.

It is quite a phenomenon and they really are beautiful.
